OPEN HORTICULTURE SHOW

Enter your potted plants to see if you have the greenest thumb in the county. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to all entries.
ELIGIBILITY: This show is open to all amateur, youth and professional gardeners who are residents of, or work in, St. Johns County.

DATIL PEPPER FESTIVAL

On Saturday October 6th, top chefs representing St. Augustine’s finest restaurants will gather to compete (Professional and People’s Choice Competition) in the sixth Annual Datil Pepper Cook-Off contest. Participating chefs will create both an appetizer and an entree dish using our beloved local datil pepper. Taste tickets will be sold the day of the event. Datil Pepper products to purchase and sample will also be available. Event starts at 11:30am and ends at 1:00pm.

AMATEUR DATIL HOT SAUCE CONTEST - $50 PRIZE-Sunday October 7th

ATTENTION Datil Pepper Sauce Masters !!!! Get out those secret recipes and bring your favorite homemade Datil Pepper sauce to compete for the title of BEST SAUCE IN ST. JOHNS COUNTY FOR 2012. All Sauce entries must be fresh and brought to the AG CENTER no earlier than October 4th .
No entries will be excepted after 5:00pm on Friday, October 5th. The Extension Office is open from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Call OR EMAIL FOR AN APPICATION: jhicks@sjcfl.us or 209-0430. Judging will be on Sunday, October 7th. The winner will get bragging rights PLUS a $50 prize for first place !!

4-H CORNER


  • St. Johns County 4-H Eco-Bot Challenge will explore how robots can be used to preserve and protect the environment. This National Youth Science Experiment demonstration will take place between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, October 6th.
  • The St. Johns County 4-H Program will host a Healthy Lifestyles booth with interactive activities for youth on Sunday, October 7th.
  • 4-H youth will sale baked goods, composted manure, and bagged datil peppers.
