reprinted from Duval County Public Schools Spotlight on Education

Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology was recently named a recipient of a Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant for the amount of $4,500.

The school plans to build a sustainable community garden with the money. The community garden will feature either a raised bed or hydroponic design. The school will receive the money and the celebration packet sometime this month. The community can expect to see the first impact in the fall of 2012.

Frank H. Peterson's administrators and teachers are very excited to receive the grant and look forward to enriching the lives of the students and community members. The grant gives the school the opportunity to implement project-based learning on healthy eating practices and sustainable fruit and vegetable cultivation through the Culinary Academy and Agriscience Biotechnology Academy.

The community is welcome to participate in many planned events throughout the year and embark on the path of enriching the lives of others through healthy eating practices.
