Herbal Link: A Celebration of Herbs 2011

Here is an event that I have been looking forward to since I first heard of it this spring! Herbal Link's annual Celebration of Herbs is coming up and I can't wait to replenish my herbs after this harsh summer.  Hope to see you there!

Herbal Link, organized for the enjoyment of the herbally interested, will have their 5th Herb Festival at the Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church, 6595 Columbia Park Court in the Greenland Business Park, which is off Greenland Road, West of Philips Highway.  The wooded acreage, with an 8 acre lake, belongs to the church, and is the perfect setting for a day in the country.  Lots of shaded space, nice breeze off the lake, with an air conditioned lake house, which we use for our herbal luncheon, demonstrations, and speakers.  Picnic tables, a circus tent, and 30 invited Vendors, Handmade  Soap, Pressed Floral Designs, Bees and Honey, Unique Yard Art in Clay, Metal and Wood, Seasonings, Jellies, Jam, Vinegars, Nature Photography, Herbal Cards, Herb Books, Worm Castings, Antique Roses, Herb Plants and Vegetables, Hypertufa Pots, Berry Bushes, Gingers, Olive Trees, and more. 


Speakers covering worm castings, Antique Roses, container planting with herbs, questions and answers on herb growing.  Demonstrations making Herbal Bread in a Bag, Making Pesto,  Horseradish & Horseradish Cream, Opuntia (Prickly Pear) Cactus Relish.

An Herbal Luncheon will be served throughout the day in the Lake House. Each year we have new Herbal recipes, along with our old standbys, that are requested from customers past.  A sample of some of the food this year, Black Bean Soup, Creamy Potato Soup with Arugula, Pesto, Pesto, Terrine,  Dilly Orzo Salad, Lavender Spice Carrot Cake, Rosemary, Lavender, and Lemon Verbena Shortbreads, Chicken Broccoli Salad with Mango Chutney Dressing, Quinoa & Herbs Salad, Dried Fruit  Salad with Feta, Pine Nuts, Couscous with Lemon/Oregano Dressing.  Luncheon is served a-la-carte and we do serve "Lunch to Go".

A $1.00 adults church donation at the gate is suggested.
