By Dan Scanlan

Eight Northeast Florida community gardens got a big green thumb's worth of help Thursday after each received $1,500 cash grants and $1,500 Wal-Mart/Sam's Club gift cards for garden supplies and tools, plus seed packs from Ferry-Morse Seed Company.

The I.M. Sulzbacher Center; Tree Hill Nature Center; The Bridge of Northeast Florida; Communities in Schools of St. John's County; BASCA Inc. in Clay County; E.H.. Miller School in Putnam County and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Nassau County received the grants. They came courtesy of Pepsi, the Jaguars Foundation, Baptist Health/Wolfson Children's Hospital, Walmart/Sam's Club and Ferry-Morse to improve health and nutrition and promote healthy choices through increased physical activity and better nutrition.
