What is a FNFCG Caravan?

The purpose of a Caravan is:
  • to promote relationships amongst community gardens within the Northeast Florida region
  • to create an identity for the region's community gardens as a diverse yet cohesive group
  • to provide interaction opportunities with the public for the purposes of community garden self promotion

We are kicking off our Community Garden Caravan to coincide with the Tour de Farms. Arlington Community Garden will be the first Community Garden Caravan destination. All community gardeners are encouraged to attend and meet their gardening brethren!

Please DO:
  • Introduce yourself as a fellow community gardener when you arrive at Arlington Community Garden.
  • Educate yourself about Arlington Community Garden and gather any printed materials which are provided.
  • Share what you've learned with your community garden's members
  • Bear in mind, that your garden will also be a Caravan destination soon! This is your opportunity to observe what a Caravan host garden can expect on that day.

Sunday, April 10 (1-5 pm) Tour de Farms! Free Event

24 area farms and community gardens will be opening their doors this Sunday so that visitors can learn more about local foods and meet the people who grow them. Fun events for the entire family will be offered at each stop.

Go to www.slowfoodfirstcoast.com to see a listing of participating farms, what events they plan to offer, and how to take the tour. Arlington Community Gardens is one of the stops and in addition to information about composting and fun activities for kids, Chef Scott Schwartz from 29 South in Fernandina Beach will be demonstrating how to prepare one of his signature dishes (which uses local ingredients) at 1:30 and 3:30. Bring the family and have some fun!
